WHY I'M DOING IT

Each day in February I'm hitting the water for SurFebruary and raising funds for cancer research at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.

I currently run a cancer program to establish australia’s first aboriginal oncologist (yep, first!) and with recently losing my pops to a battle with leukaemia, this project hits home all the more.

The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse was responsible for saving the life of a dear friend of mine who battled bowel cancer. So i can’t think of a better charity to raise money for. Also, i could use all the help i could get on the waves 😉

It only takes a minute to donate and anything you can give (no matter how big or small) will go a long way to helping people with cancer and their families.

Thank you, I really appreciate your support.

See you in the water!

We hit our goal in 2 days

Thursday 8th Jan
you absolute legends
thank you for those friends and family who have donated. we got our initial goal of 350$ in 2 days!
after a quick chat with AI, i found out that 350$ will buy:

- laboratory processing of 10 patient biopsies or roughly 15 blood samples for research study.

It can buy about one month's supply of growth media (the "food" for cancer cells) for a small research project.

-  6 sets of high-quality lab coats and safety goggles for researchers working with hazardous chemicals.

we did that. be proud of that 👏🏼
our next goal is 500$

Fancy seeing you here

Thanks so much for checking out my page.

I live in Yuin Country in the South Coast of NSW. I'm a proud Kulin girly + I love anything to do with the ocean. I work in healthcare (not on the floor like some of my amazing mates, but a tippy-typey desk job).

I just started surfing for a bit of fun, and it's probably a bit generous to call what I do surfing. but surely after 30 days of waves, i'll be Nelly Slater.

My grandpa recently passed away from leukaemia, and seeing him go through the end of his life was very confronting. It's not like the movies where it's poetic and wrapped up in a neat bow; frankly, it was total bullshit.

My pop had incredible health before all of this, and he looked after himself really well for the last 30 years, but the decisions he made in his early life caught up to him, which is why this is a no-brainer for me.

Let's get some exercise, do some good, and eventually stop being a total poser with the board. Sounds good. What if it all goes right?
