WHY I'M DOING IT

Each day in February I'm hitting the water for SurFebruary and raising funds for cancer research at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.

The reality is that one in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime. That’s a pretty big statistic. The good news is that we can make a tangible impact on how we treat cancer by contributing to innovative cancer research that benefits us all.

It only takes a minute to donate and anything you can give (no matter how big or small) will go a long way to helping people with cancer and their families.

Thank you, I really appreciate your support.

See you in the water!

Saturday 28th Feb
A quick bodysurf this morning close out Surfebuary. I am blown away with my supports and raising $629 for Cancer Research, Thank You!. I hope that anyone following my daily updates enjoyed the journey. Take care and all the best.

27/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Friday 27th Feb
Quick bodyboard this afternoon. I tweaked my knee Tuesday afternoon and it was not feeling up for surfing today.

26/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Thursday 26th Feb
A quick bodysurf at the end of the day. I tried to take a Clark Little inspired photo for the update today.

25/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Wednesday 25th Feb
A quick bodysurf this afternoon with not much spare time.

24/02/2026- Surfebuary

Tuesday 24th Feb
Quick surf at dusk after getting all my other jobs out of the way. Straight, chunky closeouts on the shallow sand bar.

23/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Monday 23rd Feb
A quick bodysurf between comments this afternoon to get it done. To date this Surfebuary I have raised over $600. I am thankful for my supporters, I could have done it without you.

22/02/2026 Surfebuary

Sunday 22nd Feb
I went on the search for some better banks up North. Got a couple of fun ones.

21/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Saturday 21st Feb
A late surf on dusk today. I do enjoy an early morning or late afternoon surf.

20/02/2025 - Surfebuary

Friday 20th Feb
Friday Board Meeting

19/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Thursday 19th Feb
Surf Maths. Very small waves + Big board = More fun than not going surfing.

18/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Wednesday 18th Feb
Quick bodysurf this afternoon to get it done. The waves were not big but had some good push, projecting me out on the face of the wave.

17/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Tuesday 17th Feb
Quick surf to finish the day on a high. I was tired and didn’t really feel like it but felt way better afterwards. Go Pro tip for today: if you want to stop water droplets from sticking to the lens, lick the lens before you go into the water. It works better than any products that I have used.

16/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Monday 16th Feb
A quick bodysurf between running to kids around this afternoon. Lots of water moving this afternoon and the water was a bit dirty after the rain over the weekend.

15/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Sunday 15th Feb
Morning surf, racing some small runners in the corner out of the strong winds.

14/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Saturday 14th Feb
Quick surf this afternoon tucked in the corner, out of the strong winds. The swell has increased slightly. I usually don’t see footage of myself surfing, but I am enjoying seeing points of my technique that I need to work on. I need to work on opening my shoulders up and passing my back arm around further on my backhand bottom turn. Half way through Surfebuary, Yeeewww :-)

13/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Friday 13th Feb
Marine Strong Wind Warning tonight, so we tucked in the corner and bodysurfed some small straight shories.

12/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Thursday 12th Feb
A bit of stormy weather building up this afternoon. On shore winds and very sloppy.

11/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Wednesday 11th Feb
The ocean was like a lake this afternoon. I dived down and sit on the sand. Similar forecast tomorrow and Friday so I might need to pack the Snorkel tomorrow.

10/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Tuesday 10th Feb
Quick bodysurf that I fitted in between running the kids around this afternoon.

09/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Monday 9th Feb
Quick surf around all the things that I had to get done. The conditions were small and straight so I went for another underwater shot for the update today. Happy Monday!

08/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Sunday 8th Feb
Small swell, onshore breeze and sloppy conditions. Tip for today: If you have ever tried surfing in a hat and found it difficult. Try flipping the brim just before paddling for the wave. It allows better visibility when surfing the wave then you can flip it down again when paddling out.

07/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Saturday 7th Feb
Morning surf with a few mate. We tucked in the corner out of the wind. Swell has dropped off. Finished off with a nice coffee from Twin Fins.

06/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Friday 6th Feb
Solo surf by myself this afternoon. I had a banks to myself. Bass pumping in the distance from the DJ at the Surf Club bring the festive Friday vibes. Happy Friday!

We had a surf tonight after soccer training. Great way to end the day. Also, I would like to say a huge thank you to the people that have donated in recent days. I am grateful for your generosity and support.

04/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Wednesday 4th Feb
Today I fitted in a quick swim between school pick up and kids sport. Nice sunny afternoon.

03/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Tuesday 3rd Feb
To get the job done today I took my hand plane and fins to bodysurf a few waves.

02/02/2026 - Surfebuary

Monday 2nd Feb
A quick dip with my son to get it done today. Strong wind warning blowing the crabs off the beach and almost blowing the boards out of our hands. (Gusts over 38 knots)

01/02/2026 - First day of Surfebuary

Sunday 1st Feb
First day of Surfebuary.

Started with an early start (4:00 am)  to drive to Tee Tree beat and surf before the crowd arrived.

Conditions were not the best but still a great morning to be out.
Finished off with pushing my kids in on some wave at First Point for a couple of hours.

I will give daily updates throughout Surfebuary.

I am humbled by everyone that donated so far.
All for a great cause!

Stay tuned for the next update tomorrow.

My fundraising total to date: $273.
My fundraising goal: $350
